Concordis International has surveyed over 3000 people in the borderlands of the north-east Central African Republic. One place, Markounda, on the border with Chad, represents a snapshot of what those conversations discovered.

Achta Fakitom, a member of the Concordis Advisory Group and the Vice Mayor of Bocaranga, helped arrange a safe route for seasonal cattle migration and negotiate the disarmament of herders passing through.

The Concordis team is helping to reintroduce cassava farming in the north of the CAR, aiming to promote food security and reduce resource scarcity causing conflict.

Concordis works with armed groups in the CAR to ensure peaceful resolution of disputes. Rather than through violence, we help resolve conflicts through negotation and cooperation.

Earlier this year, 54,000 head of cattle were heading towards Bamingui-Bangoran National Park. Concordis worked with the national authorities and herder groups to ensure safe movement and prevent tensions.

Concordis is opening a new office in Paoua, Ouham-Pendé province, north of the Central African Republic. From our new office, we will be able to carry out our community dialogues and peacebuilding workshops right in the heart of important pastoral corridors between Chad, Cameroon and the south of CAR.
