We're setting up shop in Darfur

This week in Darfur, the office is being set up.

We're recruiting staff with a plan to start activities from the end of September. The team also met with other EU-funded INGOs to discuss how to co-ordinate different activities, agreeing to share good practices, and most importantly, to work directly with communities in South Darfur.

We believe that tackling the root causes of conflict means engaging with local people and with local issues. That’s why we'll be starting our programme in Darfur by asking 2,500 people (in their local language) about their understanding of the conflict, its causes and how to find peace. Other issues such as livelihoods, security, and other social issues will also be included.

This is locally-led development.
