Oumayma Sekhman

Programme Intern

Oumayma holds a Master’s degree in Political Science from Mohammed VI Polytechnic University, with a specialization in security, governance, and conflict dynamics in the Sahel.

Her research focuses on the relationship between the state and non-state armed actors, particularly within the context of counter-extremism and peacebuilding efforts. She is interested in how states confront and adapt to the challenges posed by militias, insurgent movements, and violent extremism in fragile environments in the Sahel.

Through her academic work and research experience with think tanks and consultancies, Oumayma has developed a strong foundation in political analysis,  research, and qualitative methods. Her interests center on the evolving nature of state authority, the governance of armed groups, and the broader implications of counter-terrorism strategies in the Sahel
