Where we work

There is a road in South Darfur that connects two worlds. 

On one side, the highlands of East Jebel Marra: a fertile mountain territory, rich in fruit and agricultural produce, home to communities that have farmed these lands for generations. On the other, the lowlands of Mershing: a bustling trade hub where goods move, markets thrive, and people from across the region converge. 

The Sudanese border town of Um Dukhun sits at a vital frontier where Sudan, Chad, and the Central African Republic meet – a region where families, trade, and grazing lands have transcended national borders for generations. However, the war in Sudan has created a dangerous governance vacuum, pushing local peace to its absolute limit as criminal networks exploit the gaps and a million refugees flee the violence. Despite these immense pressures, resilient local leaders have kept the peace alive and have formally asked Concordis for help. We are stepping outside our funded programme to launch an urgent initiative this June to support these communities. You can help too.
