Luka talks about our project in Abyei

Transcript:

My name is Luka Kuot, I started working for Concordis International in January 2020.

Why is the work of Concordis important?

Because without Concordis, the community would have not enjoyed the peace they enjoying. Concordis also managed to bring the two communities (Misseriya and Ngok Dinka) to understand themselves.

It is also important to this community as it will boost their economy.

What has the work of Concordis achieved?

They facilitated a number of dialogues that brought the two communities to sign a peace agreement. Once the peace agreement was signed, Concordis managed to establish Amiet Common Market. This common market is now the lifeline between Sudan and South Sudan.

Concordis also managed to establish a Joint Community Peace Committee, working as a bridge between the Misseriya and Ngok Dinka communities.

How has your life changed because of your work?

My work as a facilitator and as a peacebuilder changed my life because when I see people come together, it makes me proud that I did something. The equal engagement of both men and women at equal levels has given me personal insight on how I work on my own merits, in my community, in my family, so that I know how to treat men and women equally at every level.

I also believe that humility works well and helps resolve any problems, any disputes, in my community.
