Acuil Atem Deng

Project Assistant

Acuil Atem Deng is currently a Project Consultant with Concordis International Trust in Abyei and the surrounding areas, returning for a second time with the organisation. He previously served as a Concordis Operations Officer during his first employment.

Before rejoining Concordis, Acuil worked with Save the Children (UK) on child protection, with the local NGO Abyei Community Action for Development (ACAD), and with Mercy Corps (America/Scotland) as a Project Manager for livelihoods, education, governance and peacebuilding. He also worked with IOM as an Assistant for Project Development.

In his current role as a Project Assistant under a consultancy period, Acuil supports Concordis’ programmes in Abyei and along the border between South Sudan and Sudan, working to find sustainable solutions to conflicts among border communities. Drawing on his long-term experience and fluency in Arabic, English and several local languages, he has successfully planned and facilitated dialogue and training with women, youth, farmers, traders, religious leaders, traditional court leaders, community leaders, civil society and local administrators. Through peace dialogues, mentoring, community peacebuilding trainings and workshops, he helps build trust, strengthen relationships, encourage mutual benefits and promote peaceful coexistence across borders and within communities.
