RELSUDE Project Report: Conflict Analysis in Obo

As part of the RELSUDE project, Concordis researched conflict dynamics and community perceptions in the Central African Republic. The aim of the project was to inform consortium partners and anchor them in the diverse realities of 11 targeted cities in the southeast of the country.

The city of Obo in the Central African Republic has a history of conflict dating back to 2008, when the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) began attacking the area. While the LRA is less active now, violent groups persist in the area. Recent attacks threatened social cohesion between the city's Muslim and Christian communities, with many Muslims fleeing due to fear of reprisals. Local authorities are looking for outside support for rebuilding social trust and bringing peace to the area.
