It is rich in deposits of gold and diamonds, which complicates the historical trust and symbiotic relationships between farmers, livestock herders, and artisanal miners. This report carries out empirical analysis and highlights the role of weak land governance in exacerbating the effects of environmental change and resource scarcity, which in turn lead to conflict.
