Carolyn Nicol
Communications Fellow
Carolyn recently completed a Master’s degree in Immigration and Settlement Studies at Toronto Metropolitan University, where her research focused on the intersection of migration and political discourse. Her thesis examined how social media narratives in the UK and France frame migrants as security threats, reflecting her broader interest in peace, security, and the politics of belonging.
She previously volunteered as a communications officer with Shelter and Settlements Alternatives Uganda, a housing and land rights NGO in Kampala, where she supported grassroots advocacy and community-driven initiatives. She has also developed a strong interest in writing and research on issues of migration, securitization, and social justice.
