RELSUDE Project Report: Conflict Analysis in Kouango

As part of the RELSUDE project, Concordis researched conflict dynamics and community perceptions in the Central African Republic. The aim of the project was to inform consortium partners and anchor them in the diverse realities of 11 targeted cities in the southeast of the country.

The nationwide crisis of 2012-2013 arrived to Kouango in February 2013, with the arrival of the Séléka armed group and the formation of anti-Balaka a year later. The presence of armed groups has had a number of negative effects on many aspects of life. The arrival of the Central African Armed Forces (FACA) has had some impact and has eased tensions. However. the city remains divided along religious lines and inter-community dialogue is necessary to advance peace.
